KABALAKA Advocacy

KAhublahan sa BArangay para sa LApnagon nga KAhandaan. Iban nga aktibidades nga ginhimo upod sa CBARAD ay ang Kabalaka Camp, Kabalaka Gallery, Kabalaka Volunteer Program, Kabalaka Tech, kag ang Kabalaka Teach. Nagatudlo ang KABALAKA sa mga komunidad parti sa climate change, disasters kag peligo sa komunidad, paghatag sang mga kagamitan, kag pagbuliganay sang mga tawo sang komunidad. Suno kay Magno, sa konsepto sini naga tuyo nga kada indibidwal sa komunidad mahimo nga resource ukon masaligan kag indi nga makaluluoy nga biktima sa tion kag pagkatapos sang disaster (Subong, E.S., 2017).
KABALAKA stands for KAhublagan sa BArangay para sa LApnagon nga KAhandaan, or Movement for Community-Based Disaster Preparedness. According to Donna Magno, head officer for Iloilo CDRRMO, this is their campaign banner under the Community-Based Adaptation and Resilience Against Disasters Project (CBARAD), a joint project of the Yokohama, Japan through CITYNET Yokohama Project of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) (Subong, E.S., 2017).

Some of the activities conducted with CBARAD are the Kabalaka Camp, Kabalaka Gallery, Kabalaka Volunteer Program, Kabalaka Tech, and Kabalaka Teach. KABALAKA has been teaching communities about climate change, disasters and hazards in the community, resource mobilizations, and community teamwork. According to Magno, the KABALAKA concept aims to make every individual in the community a resource person and not a helpless victim during and after disasters (Subong, E.S., 2017).
